This was by far our best flying scenario. We flew to Dallas and then got on a small-ish plane straight into Augusta. It was 2 1/2 hours, 1 1/2 hours in the airport, 2 hours on small plane. That is about perfect with a little one. This was also Chase's first time of having her own seat (a small price to pay for sanity!). She did so well. She was actually delightful.
We traveled on a Tuesday and Wednesday was a rest day. We stuck around the house. John and Chase (and the cat) got to check out the canoe on the pond. Chase liked this, but those of us watching were a little nervous!! John thought he'd be funny and bring the cat on board like he did last year. He tolerated it for about a minute, then John started to row ashore and Moseby thought he was closer than he actually was and jumped out just barely touching dry land and also splatted into the water. Chase was standing feet away from him and saw it all and screamed and burst into tears when she saw this. Even her little brain knew he was in trouble. But he climbed out and got toweled off. Who knew he would do that!!
Thursday we took a little road trip to Lake Oconee to visit John's dad's side of the family. It was a mini family reunion I'd say. A few people were missing, but almost everyone was represented. John only has 3 first cousins. The 2 boys were there, Stephen and David. There was a new addition to the family last year, baby Hatcher Bentley was born David and Crystal were in town from Boston so we got to meet Hatcher, as well as Crystal! Haviland and Houston were there representing, but not their parents. Chase always loves playing with them!
It was pretty chilly this day. Some thought it would be fun to take a boat ride. Others warned that it would get cold fast! And boy did it. It was a small group of us that went. As soon as we started going fast, Chase screamed and screamed, the entire time! There was no stopping her. In her defense, it was cold and very windy!!
We enjoyed our visit with Aunt Mary Catherine and Uncle Larry as well. They can always tell a good story and fun adventures from their travels. And Mary Catherine always has a scrapbook to show!
We found out they will be coming out to the San Diego area at the end of the month, so that will be fun to have them on our turf!
That is enough for Part One. Next will be the installment on Christmas!
Thanks for posting. . . I've been waiting :) Love seeing all the pictures. Miss you guys a lot.
